Abstract
The method of configuration mixing within the neutron-proton interacting boson model has been expanded to consider the simultaneous mixing of several multiparticle-multihole configurations, obtained by exciting pairs of protons and/or neutrons across major shell gaps. The determination of parameters to be employed for each configuration is discussed, along with methods for choosing the multiparticle-multihole excitation energies. As a test, the method is applied to the nucleus Hg192.
