Abstract

Multidimensional spatial soliton formation in a laser cavity containing a quadratic linearity has been observed. This soliton formation allowed the stabilization of the laser cavity and provoked mutual trapping of the fundamental and second harmonic fields in the intercavity frequency doubling crystal. In addition improved harmonic efficiency is achieved.
