Multi-watt femtosecond and continuous wave semiconductor disc lasers for terahertz systems

Abstract

We present multi-Watt vertical-external cavity surface emitting lasers (VECSELs) for the generation and detection of terahertz waves. We investigate the achievable infrared output power and pulse duration for passively mode-locked operation as well as the performance of multi-color operation.
