Abstract

In many instances, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has become the initial imaging modality in the evaluation of the spine. The authors present a broad review of the MRI features of the major disease processes which can involve the spine. Disk disease, failed back syndrome, infections spondylitis, epidural abscess, and neoplastic disease are all discussed.
