Abstract

Fuel problems and the mechanism of power generation in thermal power stations are described. Problems connected with burning bituminous and brown coal with mean calorific values below the guaranteed ones are outlined. The parameters of 120, 200, 360 and 500 MW power units, their technical and economical indices achieved during operation are discussed as well as problems of taking out of service large power units, of economical load distribution and of the technical power unit load minimum. Boiler plants with fluidized combustion chambers are also taken into consideration.
