Abstract
A soil-water model was developed and tested to study the potential effects of basin tillage on soil moisture levels at one location in Minnesota and another in south central Texas, U.S.A. The model was found to satisfactorily predict soil moisture levels and, at both locations, application of the model indicated that basin tillage increased soil moisture and decreased crop stress compared with conventional tillage, due to surface storage and infiltration of excess precipitation during the growing season, off-season, or both.
