Abstract

We propose the design of an electro optic polymer modulator based on a titania slot waveguide. The high refractive index of titania allows for slot guiding similar to the well known silicon nano slot devices and the material's very high dielectric constant causes the electrical modulation field to be concentrated in the slot region as well. General optical design parameters, as well as electrode spacings for optical loss considerations and further electrical field enhancement with side claddings are discussed.
