Abstract

This chapter presents peridynamic (PD) plasticity and viscoelasticity formulations. It demonstrates their accuracy by considering a metallic plate under tension with and without a pre-existing crack. In the case of plastic deformation, the PD predictions are compared with the published experimental data. In the case of viscoelastic deformation, the PD predictions are compared with the finite element results. The PD predictions successfully capture the nonlinear material behavior.
