Microstructured phosphate glass fiber lasers with large mode areas

Abstract

We report fabrication and testing of the first phosphate glass microstructured fiber lasers. From cladding-pumped, 11 cm long fiber lasers of 430 μm2 core area we obtain 3 W cw output with good beam quality.
