Abstract
The theory of intracrystalline distribution is outlined and the relationship between macroscopic and site-mixing properties is discussed. An analysis is made of experimental data for the kinetics of Fe2+-Mg order-disorder in pyroxenes and amphiboles; the ordering observed in natural samples is considered in terms of their cooling history. -R.A.H.
