Abstract
Methods to reduce radiation from split-ground planes are examined using finite difference time domain (FDTD). While differential lines and RF chokes prove to be reasonable solutions, using a corrugated slot is shown to be the simplest and most effective measure. RF chokes also impose physical limitations on the location and number of traces that cross over the slot. Although differential lines cannot be fully characterized with |S11| alone, the structure as a whole radiates significantly only above eight GHz for the chosen dimensions.
