Abstract

The theoretical and experimental method is presented for stress intensity factors determination in the stiffened panels. The crack surface mutual displacements measurement provides data for theoretical approach based on infinite plate problem solution. Optimal measurement basis and necessary number of points are obtained from numerical modelling. The loads applied to the panel are estimated using the same approach. Calculation error of the stress intensity factor is practically unaffected by location of experimental points along a crack. It substantially simplifies the measurement procedure and makes it possible to record opening the central part of a crack.
