Abstract
The method of moments (MoM) is applied to the integral equation modeling of multilayered stripline circuits to obtain an approximate solution for the currents on the interconnects. A significant portion of the computational effort in the MoM is associated with the calculation of the elements in the reaction (impedance) matrix. These elements can be represented as Sommerfeld-type integrals, which are often highly oscillatory and slowly convergent. A closed-form solution to these integrals expressed in terms of rapidly computable special functions, which are free from any numerical integration is presented. The closed-form solution has the form of a modal series expansion. It allows for relatively rapid full-wave simulations.
