Abstract

Automatic system has been developed to determine stress intensity factors in cracked panels. The system is based on small-size displacement gauges. A computer provides remote control and enables to perform measurements in real time, to calculate stress-intensity factors and applied loads. The following D16T sheet alloy specimens have been investigated: a cracked plate, a stiffened plate with a crack under a central stringer and between stringers.
