Metal/dielectric high-reflectivity facet coating for semiconductor lasers

Abstract

A simple solution to achieve high-reflectivity coatings on edge-emitting lasers by using metal/dielectric mirrors is presented. This results in improved threshold, DQE, thermal characteristics, and wavelength stabilized operation.
