MESTIZ@ SCRIPTS AND THE RHETORIC OF SUBVERSION

Abstract

I write with the same knowledge, the same sadness, recognizing the full impact of the colonial “experiment” on the lives of Chicanos, mestizos and Native Americans. Our codices-dead leaves unwritten-lie smoldering in the ashes of disregard, Censure, and erasure. The Last Generation emerges from those ashes. I write against time, out of a sense of urgency that Chicanos are a disappearing tribe, out of a sense of this disappearance in my own familia.
