Abstract

WE have scanned the centre of our galaxy at a wavelength of 10 μm with a beam 5.5 arcsec in diameter. The scans have been combined to produce the map shown in Fig. 1. At 10 kpc, commonly assumed to be the distance to this region, 5.5 arcsec corresponds to 0.3 pc.
