Abstract
This article defines types of male partner violence and describes the physical and mental health impact on victims. The use of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as the most common psychiatric diagnosis in the United States is discussed. Recommendations for prevention and intervention at the individual and public-policy level are offered. © 2007
