Abstract

The molecular Zeeman effect in 14NH3 was observed using a beam maser spectrometer in a 19 kG magnetic field. The measured susceptibility anisotropy is χ = - (0.37 ± 0.04) × 10-6 erg/gauss2 mole. The molecular quadrupole moment along the symmetry axis is Q = ∼ (2.32 ± 0.07) × 10-26 esu cm2. Other molecular constants are reported.
