Low complexity error concealment scheme for intra-frames in H.264/AVC

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a low complexity spatial error concealment method for H.264/AVC coded video sequences. The proposed prediction modes error concealment (PMEC) scheme exploits the Intra prediction mode information from the coded bit-stream to provide an improved concealment performance by taking into account the edge considerations. The proposed scheme gives an improved performance in terms of both the PSNR and structural similarity quality index while having a reduced computational complexity relative to the existing schemes.
