Abstract

A low-coherence fiber interferometer for measuring sections of fiber to an accuracy of 50 µm is presented. We also discuss a simple method to cut and equalize fibers to an accuracy of 300 µm. These techniques allow the realization of partially coherent imaging systems and optical delay line devices for fiber communications.
