Abstract
Nonthermal light-induced atom desorption technique was used to increase the number of Rb atoms loaded into a vapor-cell magneto-optic trap. After switching on the broadband light source, an increased Rb partial pressure reached a new equilibrium value in fewer than 10 s. Light-induced atom desorption benefitted atom trapping experiments where large numbers of atoms and long trap lifetimes were crucial.
