Abstract
The full quantum dynamics of a condensate in a symmetrically split double well was investigated. A matter-wave beam splitter was consider as a double-well potential with time-dependent well separation. The effects of internal degrees of freedom on the visibility of interference fringes during a stage of ballistic expansion were investigated varying particle number and tunneling coupling. The expressions for the phase resolution were derived and the possible enhancement due to squeezing was discussed.
