Abstract

These studies lead us to the conclusion that leptin initiates or attenuates the adverse heart remodeling associated with obesity and other hyperleptinemic conditions, which may in turn contribute to the clinical syndrome of heart failure. This will likely provide the basis for future development of leptin-moduiator therapeutics to prevent or lessen adverse cardiac remodeling and dysfunction in obese populations.
