LDPC coded modulation for terabit optical ethernet

Abstract

Polarization-multiplexed-QAM requires huge QAM constellations to reach Tb/s-range with commercially-available symbol rates. In this invited paper, we describe four techniques to enable multi-Tb/s Ethernet, while employing reasonable signal-constellation sizes: four-dimensional (4D)-coded-modulation, 4D-multiband-coded-OFDM, generalized-OFDM, and spatial-domain-based-coded- modulation.
