Abstract
A model of program organization is developed. The goal of this development is to provide a foundation on which languages designed for fully distributed systems may be based. Such languages are intended to support the construction of modular programs which effectively utilize distributed systems. Although based on the concept of loose coupling of processors, the abstraction provided by this model will be useful for programming in other environments.
