Abstract
The rate of dissolution increases with calcination temperature, calcination time and leach temperature. A first-order kinetic model is developed by considering the clay to consist of two types of aluminium sites - one that is activated and another that is refractory. The proportion of sites of each type depends mainly on roast temperature.
