Abstract
A common procedure to estimate intensity duration frequency (IDF) curves is to fit the different sets of historical depths, for different durations, with the same function of duration and return period, thereby giving rise to depth-duration-frequency (DDF) curves. The shortcoming of this simple procedure is addressed. An alternative approach to the problem is proposed.
