Investigation of multiple oscillation frequencies in spectral modal noise

Abstract

We have previously determined the origin of spectral modal noise (SMN) in a fiber-coupled echelle spectrograph. The Fourier transform is applied to simulated and experimental data to investigate the oscillation frequency components in SMN.
