Introduction: Becoming Trans*, Becoming Global: (Re)imagining Trans* Studies within and beyond Education

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

In this opening chapter, the editors provide an overview of the book’s core ideas, structure and organization, along with a brief outline of each chapter. We explore “becoming” as a fluid, relational and transformative process, framing Trans Studies as a dynamic field that moves beyond fixed identities, binaries and Western-centric epistemologies. Emphasizing intersectionality, transnational perspectives and global justice in education, this collection brings together scholars and activists to examine trans precarity, pedagogies and epistemologies across diverse cultural and geopolitical contexts. We hope this book sparks further dialogue in Trans Studies through a transnational and decolonial lens, inviting readers into an ongoing, polyvocal conversation that reimagines education through trans perspectives.
