Abstract

This handbook focuses on the material culture and lifeways of the peoples of prehistoric, proto-historic and early historic East and Southeast Asia; their origins, behavior, and identities, as well as their biological, linguistic and cultural diversity and commonalities. We have sought to emphasize material culture and processes, social relationships and behavior, social processes and technological developments in order to illuminate patterns and mechanisms of long-term diachronic change, history, and chronology.
