Abstract

Response of a 'zero-coercivity' point dipole to the stray field over a model domain structure is computed. Comparison is made with images of a bulk sample of BaFe acquired with a recently developed ultra-low coercivity sputter-coated tip and standard tips of moderate coercivity. The results of this work are discussed in relation to the interpretation of images in which both low-and high-coercivity tip characteristics are exhibited.
