Abstract

The first demonstration of interlayer vertical directional grating-coupling in III-V planar waveguides is reported. This is achieved in a geometry based on antiresonant reflecting optical waveguides (ARROWs) suitable for III-V integrated optics. Experimental verification is presented for a number of the key features that can be utilized for device applications.
