Interferometer calibration using the random ball test

Abstract

Two different approaches (systematically and randomly rotating the CaliBallTM to calibrate a Fizeau interferometer transmission sphere) are demonstrated with similar calibration results. Thus, the random approach is preferred as a quicker and easier measurement procedure.
