Abstract

The use of the optical system simulator (OSS) with focus on semiconductor lasers for the analysis, design and simulation of optical systems was described. The optical field in OSS propagates in a single transverse mode such as the narrow stripe semiconductor lasers. The OSS graphical user interfaces can be attached or detached to the simulation at any moment and can display the data streams of one or several observers. The OSS provides a unique environment where the realistic microscopic material susceptibilities were combined with accurate propagation numerical method for users to study isolated semiconductor lasers.
