Initial designs of coated nano-particle lasers and simulations of their performance

Abstract

The optical properties of coated nanometer-sized spherical particles comprised of a gain medium core covered with a concentric plasmonic shell are investigated. Numerically predicted super-resonant radiative scattering suggests the possibility of realizing highly sub-wavelength lasers.
