In non-pregnant patients, theophyllineuseis generallyrestricted to thosewith moderate asthma, who are receiving inhaled corticosteroids and still experiencing nocturnal symptoms. This multicenter trial, sponsored by the US National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) compared the ef f |cacy and saf etyof inhaledbe-clomethasone to oral theophylline therapy in pregnant women with moderate asthma. Nearly 5000 women were screened and roughly 25\% of them met the eligibility criteria. In total, 32\% of the eligible women agreed to participate and were included in the study.",
