Abstract
This article focuses on the evolution of the rights of indigenous people at the international level, from the invasion and conquest of the American continent by Europe up until the present. Particular attention is given to the mechanisms, pronouncements and ideas which become the base for convention 169 of the International Labour Organization (ILO), and to present proceedings to establish a universal declaration of human rights for Indian people at the United Nations and within the Organization of American States. -from English summary
