Abstract

This paper discusses the subject of display-specific processing for improving visualization of digital mammograms on the CRT softcopy display systems. We designed and implemented an approach to process mammograms before the display to compensate for the Optical Transfer Function (OTF) of the CRT and for its noise. A subsequent Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) study demonstrated that the display-specific processing led to an increase in the efficiency of the softcopy diagnosis in the clinical environment.
