Hybrid electro-optic polymer devices: Beating the drive voltage/insertion loss trade-off

Abstract

We have developed a solution to the voltage/insertion loss tradeoff in electro-optic polymer modulators by adopting hybrid geometry. We will discuss recent results in these devices, notably the achievement of r33 = 170pm/V in a device.
