Abstract
A single-frequency, narrow linewidth, low relative intensity noise and stable operation of packaged fiber-grating-coupled semiconductor laser at standard wavelength division multiplexed wavelength is presented. High-speed operation at 1.24 and 2.48 Gbit/s demonstrates the potential of this type of laser for low-chirp direct modulation applications.
