Abstract
Gratings photowritten in commercial ion exchanged glass channel waveguides are demonstrated. The transmission of the waveguides is analyzed, the polarization dependence characterized, and avenues for future improvements are discussed. The method allow for low-loss, polarization insensitive gratings to be written in either surface or buried ion-exchanged glass channel waveguides.
