Abstract
Written as a letter to the author’s mother, this chapter explores how the process of grieving can open up possibilities for other ways of being in the academy, including slowing down. The author poignantly illustrates the importance of grief and grieving as pathways toward wholeness in the context of institutions that can’t love you back and operate in terms of neoliberal and transmisogynistic logics.
