Abstract

The generation of an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) from a femtosecond laser induced plasma channel was studied. The radiation pressure force of the light string caused a dipole moment in the channel which generated EMP. The induced dipole moment subsequently oscillated at the plasma frequency and radiated an electromagnetic pulse. The characteristic field strengths and the spectrum of the EMP were also analyzed.
