Abstract
The decoherence of a spatially separated atomic superposition is measured. This superposition is the effect of spontaneous photon scattering. The decoherence rate constant is verified in the many-photon limit. As the number of scattered photon increases, a qualitative change in decoherence is observed as compared to separation.
