Abstract

In 2016, the Walt Disney Company’s cable network ABC Family changed its name to Freeform. This chapter explores how this name change and the identification of a new target audience of “becomers” highlights fluctuating ideas about audience value and family viewing in the face of contemporary sociocultural and technological shifts.
