Abstract

The visual impact of multifocal lenses that simultaneously image multiple object planes on the retina is not fully understood. Using diamond turning technology, six freeform lenses were designed and manufactured. The simulations presented show images in focus over a range of powers from 0 D to 3 D. Visual performance testing with the phase plates will be compared to corresponding multifocal designs implemented with a spatial light modulator.
