Abstract
Forward modeling is made for Ihe transient voltage response of a coincident loop system above law red ground containing polarizable water-saturated clay-bearing sandstone and hematltlc sandstone. The electrical properties of the water-saturated layer are obtained from laboratory measurements. For the clay bearing sandstone these properties are not described by a Cole-Cole model in the frequency range of interest for TEM response from 5 Hz-500 kHz. Modular neural network inversion of the transient response Ls performed to find in main Cole-Cole dispersive parameters. Forward modeling for a water aquifer with an upper partially saturated layer shows a negligible effect of such layer.
