Abstract

The purpose of the FIREMAP system is to simulate fire behavior in a spatially nonuniform environment, given a set of environmental conditions. This system integrates a fire behavior prediction system (BEHAVE) and a Geographic Information System (Map Analysis Package) in a framework that allows simulation of the actual spread of a fire over a digital elevation model. An example illustrating the potential usefulness of this simulation tool is given. -Authors
