Fiber selection for broadband, ultrashort pulse propagation

Abstract

Propagation of broadband, ultrashort pulses through a few meters of standard silica fiber can severely distort and broaden the pulse due to dispersion and nonlinearity. Choice of fiber and dispersion compensation can reduce these effects.
